My Holiday Wishlist ~ The Makeup Wars

Christmas time is all about the kids now for my family. My own, as well as all my nieces. We really don’t spend much money on the “grown-ups” anymore, so realistically my wishlist is pretty short. Since it is a wishlist though it is always fun to conjure up some ideas. I’ve already shared with you some great gift giving stocking stuffer minis ideas as well as some truly extravagant gifts so make sure you check out those posts.

There are three items that are truly on my list this year. The first is Balenciaga L’Essence perfume. I am madly in love with this woodsy, vetiver, and violet scent. I lurve me some vetiver. Guerlain Vetiver Pour Elle is probably my all time favourite perfume and if it weren’t so darn expensive a full bottle of it would be on my list. I have a 10ml decant of Balenciaga L’Essence that I have been burning my way through far more quickly than I’d like. I know I must own a full bottle at some point. I asked my husband for it for Christmas but I think we have since decided I don’t need anything for Christmas. I just got the new iPhone 5 when it launched and, well, I do buy myself a little too much makeup…. I think I will hold off till my birthday. If I were to go all out I would add the L’Essence perfumed candle to my list!

The second wishlist item is a nail polish rack from Beauty Pop Shop. I have wanted one of these since the lovely Doria launched her shop, and when the Black Friday deal came along I couldn’t pass it up.We’ve started drawing names for the adults for presents so we can focus on the kids more. My sister drew my name for my family and my sister in law drew me for my husbands family so I asked them if they minded if I ordered it and they could just pitch in towards it for my present. Perfect holiday solution! I guess it will suck not having any surprises this year but when you have kids it’s watching their excitement that brings you joy. What you get doesn’t seem to matter so much anymore. I opted for the Super Stacked ($150 US) which holds roughly 208-252 nail polish bottles depending on size. I figured I may as well “go big or go home” because I wanted room to grow. No point buying one that will be filled on arrival. I can’t wait to have all my pretty polishes out of the drawer and displayed where I can see them. It’s so easy to forget what you have. I’m sure my husband is going to hate it!

The third wishlist item, (which I will likely order myself from the kids), is the Tool Turnabout ($19 US/$24.50 CAD) from The Pampered Chef. I have one in my kitchen for all my large kitchen utensils and gadgets. Years ago I had thought of getting one for my makeup brushes but at the time there was no counter space for it in the bathroom. I had long since forgotten about it. It wasn’t until I saw it again on one of xSparkage‘s videos a couple weeks ago that I remembered and realized I DO have the room now since moving my makeup setup to my office.

If I were to wish for more cosmetics items, which we all know I don’t need but can’t help but want, I would love to receive the Urban Decay Naked2 palette and the Vice ($59 US/$68 CAD) palette. Practically speaking, the LAST thing I need is more eyeshadows. Yet eyeshadows are the products I am consistently drawn too. When I was at Shoppers Drug Mart selecting items for the Bonus Redemption event last weekend I was very tempted to pick these up but forced myself to move on because I don’t “need” them. But hey, that’s what Christmas is for. Getting things you want but don’t necessarily need. And yes, more eyeshadows, the Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette ($48 US/$60 CAN) has me very tempted as well.

You know what I would truly LOVE? A BLUSH palette. I mean come on cosmetic companies! Why always eyeshadow palettes or sometimes combination palettes? I won’t a palette full of a variety of beautiful shades and finishes of blush. The the only brand that has really satisfied my craving for this so far is Le Metier de Beaute with their Blush Kit Kaleidoscope ($95 US) available at Neiman Marcus and Zuneta. I adore this palette. I still yearn for more and wish there were more options as I would love to be able to gift a blush palette to my sister for Christmas. Speaking of Le Metier de Beaute, I can’t deny their newest offerings for the holidays, the Bauhaus Kaleidoscope Eye Kit and Bauhaus Kaleidoscope Lip Kit are on my radar as well.

Now some “stocking stuffers” I would love, if you can consider $30+ a a stocking stuffer, would be more Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani lipsticks and Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stains. I currently own nine Rouge d’Armani lipsticks (102, 103, 502, 503, 512, 518, 600, 605, and 606). This is my all time favourite lipstick formula and I desperately want more shades but there is always some new, must have, release that is distracting me from investing in more. The same goes for the Yves Saint Laurent Glossy Stains. This is my favourite gloss formula and one of the best lip formulas out there. With only two shades, #7 Corail Aquatique and #15 Rose Vinyl, in my arsenal I NEED more!

OK my list is now getting ridiculously out of hand. I am a girl with endless wants. I will leave you with one final mega wishlist item. If money were truly not an object then I would love to finally have a designer handbag. One that has always caught my eye is the  Marc Jacobs Stam, but I’m sure if the opportunity actually presented itself I would have no idea what kind of handbag to choose!
