Makeup Wars Favourite Holiday Metallics

I had a tough time deciding what to feature for my favorite holiday metallics. I actually don’t own much in the way of metallic makeup. It is a finish that I only recently started appreciating more. For the longest time I was appalled by metallic nail polish but finally came to the realization that you can find quality metallic finish lacquers that don’t have brush strokes. I have also gotten over my aversion to glitter and metallic shadows on my lids realizing that I’m only 36, not 86, and life is too short to not enjoy these beautiful products for fear of them not looking appropriate on my aging lids.

Since I do not wear metallics often and I’m only beginning my infatuation I don’t have many to share with you. Fyrinnae is one company where I let my love of colour and sparkle rein free and that is where the majority of my collection of metal inspired hues have emerged. Chrome is a brilliant sparkling silver, Book of the Dead is a sparkling beige gold, Gilded Wings is an intense bronze gold, Mischievous Sidhe is a glittering yellow gold, and Aztec Gold is a metallic gold over an olive green base for an antiqued gold effect.

I have also become enchanted with several metallic nail lacquers as of late and Essie Penny Talk is one of my absolute favorites!

I’m aslo really loving the subtle metallic finish of China Glaze Cranberry Splash from their Holiday Joy 2012 collection.

When I want to add a little gold sparkle to any lip look I simply reach for Haughty Cosmetics Receive Lipgloss from last holiday season. It is still available in their discontinued section.

I wanted to post a Holiday Metallic look for this post but time and weather were simply not cooperating. I will try to do a face of the day post featuring holiday metallics for you in the coming weeks.

Make sure to check out the favourite holiday metallics of the other Makeup Wars members. Just click on the thumbnails below or use the Previous and Next buttons at the top of this post.
